"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
Psalm 139:14

WHO WE ARE

OneThirtyNine Ministries was founded on the principle of “Enabling individuals with disabilities an opportunity to display their unique talents in a Christ centered environment.”

WHAT WE DO

OneThirtyNine Ministries operates a Beauty and Beau Pageant/Talent show for individuals with special needs.

Professional Attention

We have professional cosmetologists from the community come in to spend time with our participants before the event. They will fix their hair, do their nails, and even give them a makeover.

Talent Show

Each participant will have the opportunity to display one of their unique talents. Some of our past talents include dancing, singing karaoke and even telling a few jokes.

Beauty and Beau Pageant

Every contestant gets to walk across the stage with their 'buddy" for the day. While they walk across stage, one of our talent emcee's will read their custom bio. They all will receive a crown and flowers.

About Us

From a very young age, I have always been drawn to individuals with special needs. They are unique, funny, brilliant and most of all... AWESOME. They deserve all of our love and praise. After months of praying and talking to people I admire, OneThirtyNine Ministries was founded. The name comes from Psalm 139:14 which states, "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well." Every single one of our friends with a special disABILITY are indeed, wonderfully made by God.

The mission of OneThirtyNine Ministries is to "enable individuals with disabilities the opportunity to display their unique talents in a Christ centered environment." The main focus of the ministry at this time is a Beauty and Beau Pageant/Talent Show. It is open to any individual with a disability over the age of 5. Both male and females are welcome. Please check out our other resources on the website. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

COMMON QUESTIONS

You Ask, We Answer!

Who can participate?

The event is open to any ages 5 and older with any type of disability. Both male and female are welcome.

When is the event? What time? Where?

We will update the main page to reflect the time, date and location of the event. Please check back as we will update it once details are finalized. Please "subscribe" to our email list on the main page to stay up to date.

How do I register?

Please click on "Participate" in the top right corner if you are registering someone to participate in the event. There will then be a form to fill out. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.

How much does it cost?

The event is free for all participants. There will be an admission fee of $10. This money will go to support OneThirtyNine Ministries and any other Non-Profits we partner with for the event.

What will communication look like leading up to the event?

We will stay in constant communication with you leading up to the event. You will know exactly what is going on, where to be, who to find, etc.

Do I need to stay with my child during the event?

During the few hours leading up to the event (doing hair, makeup, nails, etc.) we strongly encourage for only 1 parent/guardian to be present with the participant. This cuts down on the amount of people in a small area. The other family members are welcome to wait in the auditorium. About 45 minutes before the event starts, we will ask all parents to leave and head to the auditorium. Each participant will be paired with a "pal" for the day. These will be young people that have been screened and are very good at what they do. Each parent will have the contact info of the participants "pal", just in case they need to text and check on them during the event. If the participant absolutely needs a parent there, we will make exceptions on a case by case basis.

What will the schedule look like for the day?

Around 3-4 hours before the event (depending on how many participants), we will start having participants arrive to have their hair, makeup, and nails done if they wish. If the participants does not need any of these things, the participant can arrive a little later. Specific details will be given before the event. Upon arrival, the participant will meet their "pal" for the day. Their "pal" will be with them the entire time. We will have activities for them to do once the finish with their cosmetology professional until the event starts. This might include a movie, games, coloring, etc. Once the event starts, we will have the pageant portion first, followed by an intermission entertainment, and then we will conclude with the talent portion and presentation of crowns. They are all winners on their special day.

Will there be a medical professional on sight?

Yes, there will be a medical professional on site.

Will there be someone able to do sign language?

We will make every effort to have someone there that can communicate via sign language. If not- the parent/guardian is welcome to stay with the participant the entire time.

Will the facility be handicap accessible?

Yes, this is a big deal to us. This is a requirement before we book a venue.
